MAKE SURE TO FLASH THIS FIRMWARE ONLY WHEN USING A MEGARAID SCSI 320-1 OR 320-2 CONTROLLER FROM LSI LOGIC CORPORATION.
1. Create a bootable floppy.  This floppy should be a basic boot disk without a config.sys or autoexec.bat; if using a Windows 98 Boot disk, bypass these files by holding down the left shift key.
2. Take a second blank floppy, and extract all the files from the .ZIP with the firmware in it.
3. Reboot the system, and boot from the DOS bootable floppy.  At the A:> prompt, remove the first disk and insert the second disk.
4. At the A:> prompt, type MFLASH and hit enter.  The MegaRAID flash utility will start.
5. There will be prompts asking if this is the correct adapter, and the correct image.  Say yes to both.
6. The firmware will flash.  There will be a prompt to reboot the system When the controller has been completely flashed.

MegaRAID SCSI 320-2 (518)

                                Current Version         Previous Version
                                ===============         ================
Firmware Version:                1L47                        1L45
BIOS Version:                       G121                        G121
Ctrl+M Version:                     U828                    U828
Boot Block Version:                 1.8.0AMI                1.8.0AMI
WebBIOS:                        3.23                    3.23

Release Note Update 11/29/2006
==============================
The 1L45 release note incorrectly stated that the Low Level Format feature was removed in order to remove the following limitation:

" 7. A low level format on drives when using Ctrl-M version U823 will create Media Errors on the drives. "

This was incorrrect.  The limitation was removed by updating CTRL-M to version U828 which is in both 1L45 and 1L47.

Major Changes since last release:
=================================

Headline: 3MB drive space lost when upgrading to 1L45

Description: A side affect of fixing a bug in the PCI FW is that there is now 3MB more disk space reserved
by the FW. In the upgrade case, this is a problem. It has been agreed by all parties that we will
back out the fix and NEVER fix this issue in the LSI PCI version of the firmware. Issue that will not be fixed
only occurs on the U320-2 when more than 26 drives are used in a reconstruction.

Version of Bug Reported: 1L45

Steps to Reproduce: upgrade FW from 1L37 to 1L45 with an existing configuration.

Known Limitation:
=================

A maximum of 26 drives can be used on the U320-2 card. If more than 26 drives are used and a reconstruction is performed,
the system will experience a blue screen due to the incorrect calculation of the size of the scratch area.

Installation:
=============

WebBIOS Interface Engine:                    2.30                                               2.30

Major Changes since last release:
============================

1.  A larger drive in an array of two identical size drives can be replaced with a drive of slightly smaller size and rebuild will start.  Fixed.

2.  Added support for new flash part

3.  Fixed problem when there are two media errors on different drives for the same row.

4.  Fixed boot loop hang on some systems.

5.  Fixed problem getting into CTRL-M on some systems.

6.  Cannot rebuild drives if created on 320-2 and controller is swapped to 2x.  Fixed.

7.  Time stamping in the NVRAM log is one day behind. For example the time stamp should be 2/8/2004, instead it logs 2/7/2004.  Fixed.

8.  When cascading two backplanes and attached 3 HDD as a RAID 5 drive, the RAID can auto rebuild at 1st time after they unplug a HDD and re-insert the HDD, but 2nd time and after can't auto rebuild.  Fixed.

9.  Fixed problem with a rush of SCSI BUS Resets.

10.  While using JMR enclosure and running IO, the HDD (ONLINE disk) didn뭪 perform auto-rebuild when it was unplugged and then re-inserted.  Fixed.

11.  Setup WB while card has no battery. Created a DOS partition and quickly warm booted the system. The DOS partition did not exist when checked after reboot.  Fixed.

12.  In some enclosures, the SAF-TE led does not stop blinking even after check consistency or rebuild gets over.  Fixed.

13.  During validation of Dirty cache at bootup, fixed problem if ECC errors encountered.

14.  Background Inititialization performed only on redundant arrays with five or more physical drives.

15.  Numerous fixes and enhancements to CTRL-M and WebBIOS.

16.  Enable TEMPORARY_RAID_OFFLINE option for all the vendors

17.  New support is added in web-bios to allow array size to be greater than 2TB

18.  Supports as many as 32 physical drives with same size in an array during auto-configuration

19.  CC status will be shown in the web-bios, irrespective of the CC Restoration mode selected.

20.  Added in Ctrl M "View All Running Rebuild Progress" option.

21.  Fixed ""Wrong data read"" issue.  This issue was caused by a cache optimization feature that in some random situations can cause wrong (old) data read from disk rather than new and correct data from cache. The feature was removed from all SCSI RAID source code so that the issue will not show-up.

Important Notes:
=============
1.  This firmware image does include a 64-bit EFI Driver, but will not support Intel Tiger 2 & Tiger 4 systems.

2.  The default for LDs is 2k currently in webBIOS. It should be 64k to match other utilities.  Please make the change if using WebBIOS.

3.  There have been some reports that CTRL-M or WebBIOS cannot be entered on some newer platforms.  This is being investigated.

4.  The Alarm on the MegaRAID controller is disabled by default.  Enable it in CTRL-M if the alarm feature is desired.

5.  The previous release (1L26), performed Background Initialization (BGI) on all redundant arrays.  With the release, BGI is only performed with RAID 5 arrays with five or more physical drives.

6.  This FW does not support Intel Tiger 2 and Tiger 4 systems.

7. A low level format on drives when using Ctrl-M version U823 will create Media Errors on the drives.

8.  Improved media error handling schemes are ported to this firmware.  This redesign, directly or indirectly fixed numerous Bad Block handling issues reported from various customers.
