AMD continues to hit developmental milestones for its next-generation processors, as shown by today뭩 demonstration, and continues to build industry momentum for its upcoming product family. The AMD Opteron processor is designed to scale from one to eight processors with no external logic required. This can aid system designers by reducing the cost and complexity of building servers and workstations. It can also aid customers by reducing cost and increasing server scalability. The modern micro-chips we use today are based on 32 bit technology and so far, the maximum frequency the developers have reached on P4 is \"--are you ready for this?--3.5GHz\" which was demonstrated in the end of last year. The race of frequency seems to be endless, but there is another factor that affects the whole life of a CPU: the x86-64?technology from AMD. At the moment, many top computer engineers from all over the world are gathered in AMD\'s Sunnyvale headquarter to develop the \"Hammer\" series of processors. \"AMD Opteron processors are targeted to the desktop, server and workstation.
