TYAN, an industry-leading server platform provider, a subsidiary of MiTAC International Corp., demonstrates its entire series of cutting-edge cloud computing platforms during Computex 2010 (booth # L832). <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />tyan also announces the mole-8.5 system at institute of process engineering (ipe), chinese academy of sciences (cas), the first supercomputer in the world that uses the latest nvidia tesla c2050 gpus with a theoretical peak performance (rpeak) of 1pflops in double precision, ranked as the top 3 supercomputer in china and the no.19 of the 35th top500 list (released in hamburger, germany on 31st of may) worldwide, was built with tyan ft72-b7015 platform.

 

 

 

there are three major areas inside of the tyan booth that showcases the latest solutions.  the cloud computing experience area is live demoing of the tyan gt24-b7016 coupled with other digital devices that fully demonstrates the cutting-edge cloud computing solutions.  visitors can learn about latest intel® technology and the whole array of tyan platforms supporting the intel® xeon® 5600 series processors (codename: westmere-ep) in the intel showcase area.  for the latest tyan platforms that support the latest amd® 12-core opteron™ 6100 series processors (codenamed: “magny-cours"), visitors can go to AMD Demo Area.

 

The Mole-8.5 system consists of 372 computing and data processing nodes based on the TYAN FT72-B7015 platform which is developed jointly by TYAN and IPE. Each platform is a 4U 2-way GPU barebones server, which embedded with (2) Intel® Xeon® 5520 series processors and (6) NVIDIA Tesla C2050 per each node, which will achieve a theoretical peak performance (Rpeak) of approximately 3TFlops in double precision. The Mole-8.5 system of IPE, CAS has achieved a Linpack performance (Rmax) of 207.3 TFlops and even higher performance in some real applications. Utilizing the TYAN hardware designs, this system will not only provide the highest performance, but also provides scalability and advanced floating point processing capabilities demanded by research and design industries.
