microserver gen8 에 XPEnology 6.1.x 사용 중에 CPU 한번 업글 해보겠다고
E3-1230 v2 구해서 업글을 했습니다. 인식도 잘되고, CPU는 문제가 없어 보입니다.
그런데 메인보드 수은전지가 오래되어서 그런건지, 분해하려고 파워케이블을 빼면 메인보드 세팅이 날아가는 증상이 있습니다.
그래서 바이오스 설정이 날아가선지 부팅이 안되네요.
첨에는 USB 문제인줄알고 다른 PC에 꽂아봤는데 제대로 XPEnology 설치 화면이 뜨더라구요.
바이오스 Sata 설정 문제일까봐 관련된 설정 다 바꿔보며 부팅해도 똑같네요
3가지 모드 다 해봐도 부팅이 안되네요.
몇달전에도 파워콘센트가 빠져서 바이오스 설정이 날라가면서 동일하게 부팅이 안되었는데,
바이오스에서 뭘 바꿨던가, 하드를 다시 마운트하니까 됐었는데, 이번에는 뭘 해도 안되네요.
참고로 레거시 모드&AHCI 모드는 grub>에서 ls 하면 디스크들은 보이더라구요 B120I는 디스크가 안보임.
도움 부탁드립니다. ㅠㅠ 돈좀 아끼려다가 고생하네요. 이래서 결국 시놀로지를 사는건가봐요 ㅠㅜ
물론, 여분의 다른 USB를 사용 하시는 것으로...

혹시 원래 CPU 다시 꽂으시면 부팅은 다시 아무문제 없어지나요?
저는 INTEL ME 펌웨어 버전이 의심스러워서요.
기존 CPU로 바이오스 진입이 가능하시다면 INTEL ME 펌웨어 버전도 알려주십시요.
버전이 낮다면 한단계 펌업하면 CPU 호환성이 올라가는 경우가 있습니다.

마이크로서버 Gen8의 TDP는 35W.
E3-1230v2의 TDP는 69W.
냉각을 위한 추가적인 쿨링은 쉽지 않은 상황.

Filip도 E3-1230v2를 주문해서 터보만 죽이고 장착. 아무 문제 없었다고 함.
I have disabled the turbo option as 3.3 GHz is more then enough juice for my needs
and I don’t see any issue with the stock HP passive heatsink yet.
Ben은 G1610T로도 상당한 수준의 성능이라고 ...
4. The G1610T is not your grandfather’s Celeron. It is very close in performance to an i3, and it does support virtualization. I ran VMWare on the G1610T before swapping the processor (I think you’ll be happier with VMWare, I’ve tried both and Hyper-V is not easy to setup, it really wants a domain controller, I finally got it to work without one and the disk performance on Ubuntu servers was considerably slower). I’ll post more details on my setup in the future, but on the HP Microserver N40L which is half the speed of the G1610T I’ve run a Napp-It All-in-one ZFS server for my RAID/NAS, shared the storage back to VMWare via NFS, and ran half a dozen Ubuntu VMs on top of it without issues. If you want to run a heavy database server or run 100 users off an Exchange server you might want the faster processor. The most important feature the Xeon E3 will give you on virtualization is VT-d which lets you pass a device (such as a RAID controller) directly to a virtual machine. This may or may not matter to you. Traditionally this was done for database servers that required heavy IOPS. Now days there is very little, if any performance difference between VMDKs and raw access to the drives.
쿨링만 된다면 E3-1290도 가능?
The motherboard in the Gen8 Microserver is an Intel C204 which is compatible with Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge processors in the Xeon E3 series up to the 1290 (which is 95W). You’re right that 10 minutes isn’t long enough to properly stress test.
일단은 잘 돌아가고 있지만, 전력 소비량이랑, 쿨링을 생각해야겠네요.
